A jumping hour defines A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk 142.025 Platinum Rhodium Dial (2025); its construction brings together a platinum case, a rhodium dial, and a manual-winding movement.
The case in 950 platinum in height and frames a rhodié solid silver dial bisected by a black-rhodiumed time bridge in German silver. The case measures 41.9mm by 12.2mm.
Three apertures display jumping hours at left and jumping minutes at right, with subsidiary seconds beneath and AUF/AB power reserve indicator above. Reference 142.025 represents the new-generation Zeitwerk launched in 2022, executed in platinum with the rhodié dial and refined Caliber L043.6 that doubled the original's power reserve.
The manual-wind Caliber L043.6 with patented remontoir constant-force mechanism delivers 72 hours of reserve, completed by a dark brown alligator strap with platinum deployant clasp.
Introduced in 2009, it presented the first mechanical wristwatch with large, precisely jumping digital hours and minutes — a configuration long considered impractical given the energy required to instantaneously advance the discs.
Dated 2025, this example is offered in pre-owned (very good) condition with its original box and original papers.
