Description
A chronograph defines Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore 26176FO.OO.D101CR.02 Chronograph 'Bumble Bee' Carbon Black Dial; its construction brings together a 42mm carbon case, a black dial, and an automatic movement.
The "Bumble Bee" stands as one of the most recognizable Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph ever produced, instantly identifiable by its black-and-yellow color scheme. The in-house automatic Caliber 3126/3840 — wound by a 22-karat gold rotor with ceramic ball bearings — delivers a 50-hour power reserve, completed by a black hornback alligator strap with yellow contrast stitching and AP folding clasp.
Released in 2009 in a limited series of 500 pieces and produced through 2012, this reference also represents one of Audemars Piguet's early commercial uses of forged carbon — the marbled composite material adopted from Formula 1 and aerospace engineering, where carbon fibers are subjected to extreme pressure to create the unique swirling pattern unique to each case. The 42mm case in forged carbon is paired with a black ceramic bezel, ceramic crown bearing the AP logo, and ceramic chronograph pushers.
The black "Méga Tapisserie" dial carries luminescent yellow Arabic numerals and Royal Oak hands, a yellow tachymeter flange, three recessed black subdials, and a date aperture at three.
This Open Date example is presented in pre-owned (very good) condition and accompanied by its original box and original papers.
