Description
A perpetual calendar defines Patek Philippe Grand Complications 5236P-001 In-Line Perpetual Calendar Platinum Blue Dial (2025); its construction brings together a platinum case, a blue dial, and an automatic movement.
The case measures 41.3mm across and 11.07mm in thickness.
Unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2021, it became the first wristwatch perpetual calendar to display day, date, and month in a single horizontal aperture at twelve — a configuration historically reserved for rare pocket watches and protected here by three pending patents. The platinum case thick and frames a blue dial with black-gradient rim and vertical satin finish, accented by faceted white gold baton hour markers and the in-line calendar aperture at twelve. Moon phase and small seconds occupy six o'clock, with leap year and day/night indications in subsidiary apertures.
For collectors of Patek's Grand Complications, the reference represents a rare instance of genuine mechanical innovation rather than refinement, while the case design draws lineage from the legendary 3448, the maison's first automatic perpetual calendar from 1962. The self-winding Caliber 31-260 PS QL — built from 503 components and incorporating an off-center platinum mini-rotor — delivers up to 48 hours of reserve.
A signature platinum diamond between the lugs at six and a navy alligator strap with platinum fold-over clasp complete the piece. The case is matched to a leather strap.
A stylus is included with the watch. Dated 2025, this example is offered in new condition with its original box and original papers.
