Description
The Rolex GMT-Master II 16710LN, dated 2000, combines a 40mm stainless-steel case with a black dial and the collection’s independently adjustable GMT display. The “LN” suffix denotes Lunette Noir, identifying the understated black-bezel configuration of this five-digit reference.
Reference 16710 entered production in 1989 as the successor to the thicker 16760 and remained in the collection until 2007, making it the final GMT-Master II generation built around an aluminium bezel insert. During that production period, luminous materials evolved from tritium to Luminova and Super-LumiNova, solid end links appeared around 2000, drilled lugs were later phased out, and late examples transitioned from Caliber 3185 to Caliber 3186.
The case is fitted with a bidirectional black aluminium bezel carrying a 24-hour scale and 120-click action. A sapphire crystal covers the black lacquer dial, where luminescent hour markers with white-gold surrounds are joined by Mercedes hands, a red 24-hour hand, and a date aperture at 3 o’clock beneath Cyclops magnification.
Inside is the automatic Rolex Caliber 3185. Its independently adjustable local-hour hand supports the display of three time zones when used with the GMT hand and rotating bezel. The COSC-certified movement is specified with a 48-hour power reserve.
A three-link stainless-steel Oyster bracelet with an Oysterlock folding clasp completes the watch, while water resistance is rated to 100 meters. This pre-owned example is described in good condition and includes a Rolex Certified Pre-Owned paper and travel case; it is offered without the original box or original papers.
